2017 Kane Scholarship Winners

Beartooth Billings Clinic Foundation of Red Lodge announces the 2017 Dr. James and Juanita Kane Scholarship recipients: Mykayla Blanton (Bridger ’17), Melissa Daly (Joliet ’17), Korbin Johnson (Red Lodge ’17), Grace Karas (Red Lodge ’17), Dani Nardinger (Joliet ’17) and Beartooth staff member Laura Way, Health Information Management.
The annual scholarship funds are awarded assist with the continuing education expenses of graduating local high school students who seek to pursue a career in rural healthcare, in addition to Beartooth Billings Clinic employees who seek to improve and apply their skills right here in Carbon County. Scholarships were awarded at the Memorial Hospital Association Annual Meeting in April.  
According to Sara Urbanik, Beartooth Billings Clinic Foundation Executive Director, “We’re proud to continue with Dr. Kane’s legacy of supporting rural healthcare higher education. With the support of his family and the community we are able to fund these scholarships into the future.  Keep an eye on the progress of these upcoming rural healthcare providers.”
The scholarship program, and the opportunities it creates, honors the late Dr. James Kane for his nearly 60 year commitment to providing quality rural healthcare in Carbon County.  Dr. Kane was a general practice physician who began practicing medicine in the area in 1952.  Dr.  Kane’s dedication to his patients and his community was exemplary.  To join in financially supporting this health education fund, contact the Foundation office at 406-446-0610.
