Cardiac Rehabilitation

What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a program designed to improve the health of patients with heart disease. It can also help patients who are recovering from a heart attack, as well as those who’ve recently undergone heart surgery. For those interested in preventing heart disease and improving their activities of daily living, we offer our cardiac maintenance program.

Benefits of a cardiac rehabilitation program can include: reduced cardiac symptoms, better long-term survival, weight loss, improved cholesterol and triglyceride levels, improved blood pressure, lower blood sugar levels in diabetics and reduced stress.

Cardiac rehab is covered by most insurance plans, with the patient being responsible for co-pay.

Cardiac rehab is important for individuals who have had any of the following:

A heart attack
Heart surgery, such as a coronary bypass
A heart transplant / lung transplant
Angioplasty or stenting
Stable angina
Heart valve repair or replacement

Congestive Heart Failure
Cardiac rehab works in phases:

The process:

Phase I: Inpatient rehab that is offered by physical therapy.

Phase II:  The next phase of cardiac rehab begins when you leave the hospital. Here at Beartooth Billings Clinic, we design a customized program based on your health, your goals, and your doctor’s recommendations. We then supervise your exercise program at our facility through ongoing classes.  Phase II typically lasts from 4 to 24 weeks.

Phase III:  Similar to Phase II, but differs in that you are only on a heart monitor for a few sessions.

Phase IV:  Often called the maintenance phase – offered to anyone who would like to improve his or her health.  Clients come to class three days a week and “work out” for an hour.  Classes are not coved by insurance and are paid monthly by the client.

Feeling Fit Program:  This Six week preventative program  is packed with:  Education, Nutrition Visit, Cardiovascular Exercise, Resistance Training, Lipid Panel, Blood Pressure Checks, and Custom Exercise Plan.  Treadmill tests are also available and are scheduled through your health care provider.

All of the programs are provided by an Advance Life Support Certified Nurse who provides regular updates to the referring physician regarding the client’s status.
